Congratulations to Boback Firoozbakht, MIA ’11, who has been selected to speak about the significance of Interior Architecture at the “Why Design Now?” conference later this month. He was nominated by Dean Barrett along with two other RISD students, but after a rigorous interview process Boback was selected by the conference’s organizing committee.
The Dean at Parsons School of Design, Joel Towers, will be moderating three students and having a casual live discussion over “The Next Generation of Design Thinkers.” Boback will be joined by a fashion student from Parsons, and a medical student from Stanford. Only three students in the US were selected.
“Why Design Now?” is sponsored by GE in partnership with Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. The one-day conference aims to generate inspiration and insights into design as a problem-solving tool for global challenges. Attendees include high profile names from leading companies and academic institutions such as IDEO, Smart Design, R/GA, Core 77, fuseproject, Fast Company, Pratt Institute, Parsons The New School of Design, and RISD. A livestream of the event will be hosted on Core77 starting at 9:00 a.m. on October 1st.
